THE SYMPOSIUM IN VINH HIEN PRIMARY SCHOOL

To celebrate the Vietnamese Women’s Day- October 20th, Vinh Hien Primary School held a symposium of English teaching which was observed by both the school teachers and those from the English group of Vinh Thach, Vinh Hien and Vinh Kim Primary Schools.

The main aim of this period is to clarify how effective Tri Viet E-learning software is in teaching English during the class. Miss Hanh modeled this aim by teaching a class of grade 4 –Unit 5 – period 1 and 2. Her careful preparation gathered the whole functions of this software. Thus, all teachers could realize both sides of it and as Ms. Ngan – the headmaster of Vinh Hien Primary School, once said that “We should take the advantages of this software in teaching because of the benefits that we've just seen”. In addition, the English teachers’ group had the chance to share their experiences in teaching the subject. These are the procedures to teach Part 1-2 of Lesson 1 and some suitable drills and interesting games to make a lesson more successful. Especially, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dao – an English teacher from Vinh Thach Primary School – suggested many ideas for not only English teachers but the teachers of other subjects in Vinh Hien School.

The success of this period motivated the teachers to apply technology in teaching, which is one of the most important factors in innovating English teaching at Primary Schools.

The Tri Viet E-learning software has both sides. On one hand, it helps teachers to animate their lessons. Teachers can use animations, add flash exercises and interactive questions to a period. In addition, this is a strong tool for students to review at home. They can revise the knowledge, do exercises and submit their tests to the teachers. As the result, teachers can track their students’ progress. On another hand, teachers must stick to their computers to control each steps of a packed E-learning lesson. They have to focus on the progress and forget to monitor the class. Also, a technology lesson consumes teachers’ time to prepare. These sides can complicate teachers but a wise choice of good sides innovate our work.
